About Equal Opportunity

What is Equal Opportuntiy?

Equal Opportunity (EO) is the creation of a positive environment in which decisions about applicants, students, and employees are based on the individual’s qualifications, experience, and performance, and not solely on the basis of immutable characteristics such as race, color, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, or veteran status.

What We Do...

The Equal Opportunity (EO) staff has the responsibility to ensure compliance with federal and state laws by providing dispute resolution for complaints as they relate to discrimination.  EO will serve as a liaison between faculty, staff and students as well as different university entities to provide guidance to the university community through processes for equity and nondiscrimination and by providing assistance to departments with the hiring goals and recruitment of Faculty, Staff and Administrative & Professional employees. EO will conduct reviews and/or investigations in an effort to establish whether discrimination has occurred and implement and facilitate training programs that create awareness of equal opportunity and diversity related issues. This office also coordinates the disability accommodation request process by providing guidance to employees and supervisors.
