Department's Responsibility
The Volunteer Program became effective June 1, 2002. Information regarding this program and its policy can be found in HOOPS 2.60 Volunteers. Should you have an interest in utilizing a volunteer, the following steps must be taken prior to an individual starting a volunteer assignment.

  • Complete a Description of Volunteer Services for the volunteer position and submit it to your Unit Volunteer Coordinator before engaging a volunteer.

  • Obtain a completed Volunteer Profile from the potential volunteer and submit it to your Unit Volunteer Coordinator.

  • Assure the potential volunteer is at least 14 years of age. If the individual is between 14 and 17 years of age, he or she may volunteer only for certain low-risk services and must have parental consent. The UTHSC-H Volunteer Coordinator (HR) may be consulted to ensure that all safety and legal issues are addressed.
