The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston is seeking a Dean to lead its nationally and internationally recognized School of Public Health located in Houston, Texas. The Dean reports directly to the President of the Health Science Center, which includes the Dental Branch, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, Medical School, School of Health Information Sciences, School of Nursing, Institute of Molecular Medicine for the Prevention of Human Diseases, and other affiliated units in Houston. The Dean is considered the CEO will full responsibility and accountability for the academic, administrative and financial affairs of the School. Critical activities that reflect the new Dean’s responsibilities include planning for facilities and programs, allocation of resources within the School, recruitment and development of an outstanding and diverse faculty all aimed at enhancing the school’s excellence in teaching, research, and service activities. The School of Public Health includes regional campuses in Austin, Brownsville, Dallas, El Paso, and San Antonio, and recently initiated an ambitious planning effort to enhance and expand its facilities, faculty, and programs. The School of Public Health is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health.

Candidates should be established leaders in an area of public health with significant teaching, research and administrative experience, and should have achieved national and international prominence in research. They should have an understanding and appreciation for all major missions of a comprehensive contemporary school of public health, and a commitment to fostering excellence in its full range of programs and activities. The Dean will cultivate and nurture interdisciplinary interactions with other components of The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, and appropriate interactions with local, state, national, and international universities, agencies, and organizations.
